Hi, my name is Kellie and I’m a recovering fashionista.
For years and years I bought a lot of clothing, and often – from street style darlings like J.Crew and fast fashion powerhouses like H&M.
Despite my burgeoning closet and my shrinking wallet, I never had anything to wear. So, I bought more clothes.
After taking a job in the sustainability industry, I quickly became interested in the topic of sustainable fashion. I had no idea that fashion is the second-most polluting industry in the world, and it changed how I look at my closet.
I became acutely aware that having more clothing and things didn’t make me any happier, it didn’t make me better dressed and it certainly wasn’t helping the planet or garment workers.
About six months ago I began paring down my closet and working to dress with less. I also began a replacement plan of replacing necessary, but worn out, items in my closet with more ethical, purposeful pieces.
This journey is just beginning for me, and I still have a lot to learn and a lot of work to do. This blog is my space to talk about what I’ve already accomplished and learned, and to connect with other people who share a similar mindset. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll join me for future posts.
P.S. – the name of my blog is inspired by my two cats, Luna and Ares, and my concern for animal welfare in the items I buy and use.
