When it comes to the LBD, the Amour Vert Sophia dress has become a staple in my closet. It is also the lovely dress featured in my very first post!
Amour Vert, which means “Green Love” was founded on the idea that style and sustainability can coexist. For every tee sold, they plant a tree with their partner, American Forest. Additionally, Amour Vert prides itself on American manufacturing; the use of sustainable textiles including Tencel, Modal and certified organic cotton; and low impact dyes.
I was on the waitlist for this dress for several weeks before actually having the opportunity to order it, and I’m so glad I did once it came back in stock. It does the work of all the black dresses I owned before it- transitioning from work, to happy hour, to date night, to weekend errands, to travel and everything in between.
For work, I wear it either sleeveless or with a cardigan. It also looks great with a denim jacket on the weekends, or with a long casual cardigan over it for travel.
What I love the most about this dress is how flattering it is. It’s incredibly soft and wrinkle-resistant – this dress looked fantastic when I pulled it out of my suitcase after a long trip to Norway. It’s made of 94% Modal and 6% Spandex (so it holds its shape well throughout the day). Modal is a semi-synthetic rayon made from beech trees.
Modal itself is a bit controversial – consumers need to be careful of the origin and if the how the finished product is manufactured, as Modal is typically sold as yarn, not a fabric ready to be made into clothing. The majority of Amour Vert’s clothing (excluding some heavy knitwear) is made here in the U.S.
So tell me, which piece of clothing makes you feel your best when you wear it?
