We are back from vacation (for about a week, and then it’s off to Paris and Amsterdam for my friend Claire’s wedding!) and I thought I’d revive my Slow Sunday series and end the week on a reflective note. It was great to spend time with Matt’s family and see our nieces. And the beach was beautiful! I was going to share a packing post but honestly…I didn’t have time to photograph everything before I left (life, you know?) and now everything is wrinkly and sandy and needs to be washed.

I did so much reading on vacation, it was awesome! I read Crazy Rich Asians, as well as Along the Infinite Sea, which is, I think, my new favorite book. It weaves together the stories of two women – Annabelle, who left Germany just before WWII and Pepper, who finds herself pregnant with the child of a married politician. They’re brought together after Pepper restores an old Mercedes, which turns out to be the same car that Annabelle crossed the German border in. I wasn’t so enthralled with Pepper’s storyline, but the book focused much more on Annabelle’s life and love story. My Instagram friends really delivered on the book recommendations! It was the perfect beach read.
Now I’m reading China Rich Girlfriend, and after that I’ll be reading Manhattan Beach. It’s nice to finally be done with my master’s and to have more time to read for pleasure.

Today I’m wearing this graphic tee gifted to me by JUN-i, which is made out of organic cotton. JUN-i’s tees and sweatshirts are designed in Barcelona and ethically made in India. Sales of the items in the “Get Lost” collection benefit Surfrider, an organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans, waves and beaches.
I really like the cut of this t-shirt, as it’s just, you know – a good old t-shirt, not like some of those super-sheer tees you often see for women. The cotton is thick and something about the design just really inspires me.
JUN-i was kind enough to offer my readers 15% off their purchase with code wholehearted15. You can always find all of my active promo codes over on my Shop Responsibly page.
I’m also currently loving this outfit that I wore on Friday night when Matt took me out to dinner and a movie for my birthday! Turning 28 on Tuesday.
The jeans are Madewell (similar here), and the sweater and shoes are St. Agni Studio.
On a non-fashion related note, I am also loving having the time to cook again! Working towards my master’s meant that when I had courses to to take and homework to do in the evening, there was very little time to cook – especially when you’re trying to eat a plant-based diet. Matt would sometimes cook, but we mostly relied on prepared foods. Last night I made vegan chili, and tonight I’m going to make a vegan fettuccine alfredo.

I’ve recently rekindled my love of Pinterest. I’ve archived some boards that weren’t really serving a purpose anymore, like the ones I used when planning my wedding, and have been using the ones I do have to more seriously curate and continue to develop my style! I really like wearing black, white and camel – no surprises there. You can follow me here, if you’d like.
I’ve also been reading a bit about wabi-sabi, which is the art of seeing the beauty in impermanence and imperfection. I’ve been reflecting a lot about it, especially as I get older and friendships and relationships start to change.
I also really love this quote, and have been thinking about it for a few days.
My health continues to be a bit of a struggle, but I was so grateful when I read these words and decided that maybe it’s time for me to stop being so hard on myself (and to stop letting people be so hard on me, as well).
What has you feeling inspired today?
All for now.
