Happy Friday, everyone!
So far, I think I’m doing pretty good at keeping up with balancing posting my outfits here and on Instagram. In addition to achieving a healthier relationship with social media, my hope is that people will come to my blog, and not just my Instagram, for style inspiration. I promise I am also working on more topical posts – this blog won’t become all about outfit roundups. I’m simply enjoying adding them into the mix right now and figuring out what the cadence will be for them.
This week, I really loved all the outfits I wore; I have such a positive relationship with my wardrobe these days. I’ve come to realize that being stylish isn’t about having more things to wear, it’s about having the right things to wear.
While this week’s outfits were (mostly) polished and simple, emotionally I’m not feeling as put together. It’s hard to say what exactly is bothering me, but I have had this nagging sense of loss ever since 2018 came to a close. While a lot of things about last year were difficult, so many wonderful things happened – travels, the growth of this blog and new friendships. I’m heading into 2019 with some anxiety about what comes next.
Anyway – on to the outfits.
Monday
Monday I failed to take an outfit photo. I woke up late, couldn’t remember if I had a 9 a.m. call, and was in a black dress, black tights and Chelsea boots and out the door in 15 minutes flat.
I didn’t have a 9 a.m. call.
Tuesday
Tuesday’s outfit made it onto the ‘gram, and it might be one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn this winter. It felt more elevated than the way I usually style denim. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great hair day. You can’t win them all.
(Monday and Tuesday were a little rough, it gets better from here – ha!)
Outfit details: Trench, Only Child; Waffle Knit, Rawson Chicago; Jeans, Madewell; Boots, Bhava Studio; Bag, Cuyana; Necklace, GLDN.
Wednesday
I’ve been trying to not wear jeans every single day. It’s tempting, because I’m allowed to wear jeans to work and I really, really love wearing them. But if I wear denim every day, that isn’t all that exciting for my readers, and it doesn’t foster my creativity. On Wednesday, I decided to bring out a pair of Zara paper-bag waist pants from my fast fashion days, that I do still love.
Outfit details: Shirt, Power of my People; Pants, Zara, old; Bag, Cuyana; Boots, old, similar here; Necklaces, Finley and Mirabelle; Watch, Barrow.
Thursday
On Thursday, we entered into what is going to be a bitter cold few days here in Connecticut (30 degrees Fahrenheit on average, below 0 Celsius), so I decided to dress warm and comfortably.
I haven’t worn this Jamie + the Jones T-sweater much this season. It’s certainly indicative that, while conscious fashion advocates espouse fewer, better things, we are still susceptible to trends. I wore this so much last winter, and have hardly reached for it at all as everyone shifts toward more traditional chunky cardigans and fisher sweaters this year. I got quite a few compliments on it at work though, and it reminded me what a beautiful sweater it is, regardless of what is trending.
Outfit details: Hat, Lamini NYC (c/o); Sweater, Jamie + the Jones; Jeans, Madewell; Boots, old, similar here; Watch, Berg + Betts; Necklace, GLDN.
Friday
So many buttons.
I am thrilled with this top from Reformation. I had about a zillion similar tops pinned on Pinterest, so when I came across this one I knew it was worth investing in because it was a style I had been gravitating toward for some time.
Outfit details: Top, Reformation; Jeans, Madewell; Boots, Michael Kors, old, similar here; Necklace, Vrai & Oro.
There you have it – my weekly wardrobe! I’m curious: while I’m enjoying not being so beholden to Instagram, do you like this new format? Posts to Instagram a few times a week, and then outfit round ups? Ultimately, I need to balance what works for me and what works for those of you who read here. Let me know in the comments, if you’d like.

I love the format! I’ve also been enjoying some some limiting of Instagram time, so it’s fun to still get my sustainable fashion fix without having to open up the orange-purple-pink monster. 🙂 Cute outfits, and I LOVE the Jamie + the Jones sweater on you! It’s crazy that, like you said, it totally fell out of view this past year after being such a hot item the year before.

Thanks so much Meg, and thanks for reading! Instagram can definitely be a real time suck. And it’s so true, this sweater was everywhere…I’m trying to get better at predicting which items are truly good investments and which are the trend items.

I loved all looks but Wednesday was definitely my favorite. Both the pants and the shirt look great on you and go so well together.
