One week into social distancing. While it has been tough in a lot of ways, I am also trying to stay optimistic and find ways to enjoy this time at home. It’s funny how we all crave slowing down until we are forced to do so! So, I’m trying to look at it from that perspective – this is a welcome break to work on my blog, read, go for walks and rest. And, once we are past all of this, we’ll appreciate time with others so much more than we did before. I’ve been reading, FaceTiming with friends, playing with our cats and organizing around the house. And, of course, working from home! But without commuting two hours a day, I have some extra time for things I’ve wanted to do but felt like I never had the time for.
While I don’t get dressed everyday these days, I am trying to get dressed a fair amount of time. Today I played dress up just for Instagram and blog photos, which was fun! I came up with some new spring outfit ideas. There’s a noticeable difference in how I feel about myself when I get dressed and do my hair and makeup compared to when I sit in loungewear all day. They’re both satisfying, but in different ways, haha.
One piece that always makes me feel put together is my Nordgreen watch, which I’ve been wearing on repeat over the last few weeks. I have the Native model in 32 mm (for a smaller, more classic look), with rose gold metal and a black vegan leather strap. It’s definitely a showstopper; I get a lot of compliments when I wear it out and about and when I post photos featuring it. Most often, people say something like, “That’s exactly the kind of watch I’ve been looking for!” It’s effortless yet striking, stylish but approachable.
It’s hard to put into words how chic I feel in this watch! I like that it is minimalist and understated, and that it isn’t overly feminine. I absolutely love Scandinavian style, and Nordgreen delivers on embodying the sophisticated minimalism that’s become synonymous with it. The name Nordgreen comes from the combination of the brand’s Danish heritage and their commitment to sustainability.
Nordgreen works directly with Jakob Wagner, one of Scandinavia’s most heavily awarded designers whose style is quintessentially Danish: elegant, simple, balanced, timeless – but most importantly, functional.
Casual on a Sunday afternoon in jeans, a rumpled button-down and my Nordgreen watch.
What I love most about Nordgreen is how much I was able to customize my watch. For the Native base style, you can select the size of the face – 32, 36 or 40 mm. You can also change the color of the dial – black, white or navy.
There are 20 different strap options, many of them vegan friendly – such as the vegan leather or mesh. The other models have fewer customizations but you’re still able to select quite a lot about them! The straps are also interchangeable. I was really excited to see so many vegan options, as it seems like vegan straps are an afterthought with a lot of brands that are not exclusively vegan.
For all you watch aficionados out there, Nordgreen uses Japanese movements produced by Miyota, known for precision.
With each Nordgreen purchase, you can select that a portion of the sale be donated to one of three causes: clean water, education or rainforest conservation. Additionally, they’re currently working with One Tree Planted, with strap sales going toward providing Australian bushfire relief. I appreciate that social responsibility is embedded in the brand, and that they encourage consumers get engaged by thinking about what organization they would like their purchase to benefit.
Gorgeous watch, and poor circulation in my hands in the colder months (I’m sure many of you can relate).
This piece has been a welcome addition to my watch collection – I have a gold mesh watch, one with a brown leather strap and a wooden watch. I always feel so put together when I have the right timepiece, and this one in particular feels like it goes with all of my outfits. Plus, with the minimalist direction that my closet is increasingly moving toward, it has quickly become my favorite.
How are you spending your time during these weeks of social distancing?
