I whisk matcha lattes, chop vegetables, go to the beach, carry my cat around in a backpack. I read (a lot), take naps, research “does my monstera have sunburn?” (it did, but should make a full recovery). I answer emails, practice embroidery, actually fold my laundry as soon as it’s dry.
Life at home, every day. I am thankful to be working, to be healthy, for everyone I know to be healthy. I feel like I understand better what it means to appreciate the little things, because I actually have time to notice them now. I always remind myself that we are allowed to feel more than one thing at a time – I can feel unsettled or frustrated with the world and still find joy in my small, slow corner of it. So that’s what I’m doing.
Here are a few things I’m loving at the moment.
Going to the beach. I’m fortunate enough to live near the shore, and I really do believe the salt air is good for you. Okay, okay, and I really like summer fashion. My Summersalt bathing suit is minimal and classic, and their swimwear is made of 78% Recycled Polyamide, crafted from recycled plastics, post-consumer materials and nylon waste. I’m also really into sunglasses chains these days, because sometimes we are all susceptible to trends. Mine is from ASOS (it hardly seemed the kind of thing to spend a lot of money on). It’s sold out, but I do also like this one from Etsy.
Making matcha lattes. I don’t have any of the right tools (like a matcha whisk, I just use a regular one) but I am absolutely terrible at making coffee at home and this has been a much more attainable beverage endeavor for me. I just buy this matcha from my local supermarket, but I know many people who swear by Golde. See below photo for evidence of not having the proper whisk, but hey, I’ve only made three lattes so far! I’ll get some of the right tools if it becomes a habit.
Eating vegetables. There are just so many beautiful vegetables in season and it makes me happy. Big fan of tomatoes over here.
Easy makeup routines. I have been wearing a lot less makeup and focusing on skincare (sunscreen!!!), but I do love this multi-stick for some quick color on my lips and cheeks.
Looking at photos. Since we can’t go anywhere, I’ve been having some fun looking at photos from years past, and Matt and I even picked a few out to print and frame with Framebridge. They should arrive mid-August and I’m so excited! One of the ones we selected is below, a landscape photo we took in Santorini when we were on our honeymoon. Hope it transports you somewhere sunny and peaceful on this Monday morning.
