This year, I’ve decided to forgo a spring capsule wardrobe.
The weather in New England is unpredictable from March-May (sometimes even into June), and I discovered that really took the fun out of capsule wardrobing for me last year. I ended up with such a random mix of clothing in order to accommodate any possible temperature, and was so frustrated that those pieces didn’t feel cohesive when put together as a capsule wardrobe.
One day I’d be wearing a thick sweater or sweatshirt, the next, a lightweight blouse, and the colors weren’t as complementary as I aim for with my capsule wardrobes. It made practical sense – the weather dictates what we wear. But as a content creator, I know people are looking for spring ideas this time of year regardless of what the weather is like in my city. So, passing on a capsule and daily looks in favor of sharing more thematic content makes sense right now, so that I can provide the best possible content for all of you, outside of my personal day-to-day.
I’m excited to explore topics outside of capsule wardrobes, such as sustainable brands, sustainable living and more. And, my capsule wardrobe will return for summer, so it’s something to look forward to!
But, for those of you who enjoy my seasonal capsule wardrobes, I wanted to put together a list of some of my favorite spring pieces that you’ll see me wearing over the next few weeks, weather permitting.
VETTA Capsule The Chunky Cropped Cardigan: This cardigan can be worn with the buttons in the front or the back and is made of 100% organic cotton. I have the oatmeal donegal, which is currently sold out, but it is in stock in this lighter-weight version.
Une Heures Knit Tee: This 100% Italian silk knit tee from independent brand Une Heures is one of the most elegant pieces I own. I have a similar version from last year – a slightly paler blue without the scalloped edges.
VETTA Capsule Tapered Pants: When it gets warmer, I live in my VETTA tapered linen pants from a few years ago (sadly they have never restocked). This Tencel pair is similar and is made in a family-run factory in NYC.
Mate the Label Linen Button Down: New to my wardrobe this season, but I can never get enough of a button down with a lived-in feeling.
o.p.t. Athena Dress: I recently got a Few Moda subscription – I wanted to give it a try after hearing so much about it. I ordered this o.p.t. Athena dress, which can be worn on- or off-the-shoulder. I love that the silhouette is more dramatic, but the solid color keeps it feeling minimalist (though it does also come in some patterns). Full review coming soon.
AYR The Deep End Button Down: This is one of the best oversized button down shirts out there, though the version I love for spring (sesame stripe, a pinkish-nude and white stripe) isn’t in stock this season. This colorway, “cherry blossom” achieves much of the same effect.
Jenni Kayne Cashmere Hoodie: I’ve talked about this hoodie at length in the past, so I’ll keep this brief – it is an outrageous splurge, but it is incredibly comfortable, luxurious and lightweight.
Levi’s Wedgie Jean: You can’t go wrong with a classic. Tango light is my favorite wash for the warmer months.
American Giant Half-Zip Hoodie: I received a PR sample of this half-zip for spring. As always, I love a light neutral, and French terry is perfect for spring. You can save 20% on your first American Giant order with code KELLIE.
American Giant Cotton Sport Tank and Leggings: I also received this set as a PR sample. I chose agave green, which is a muted green and has made a beautiful and serene addition to my wardrobe. You can save 20% on your first American Giant order with code KELLIE.
Faire Collection Keepsake Crossbody Bag: I’m excited to continue my partnership with Faire Collection this year, as they introduce a new category outside of jewelry to their designs. This small crochet bag packs a punch with room for your iPhone, card case and more. It is handmade by fair trade artisans with an acai beaded strap and wool crochet body. I chose “spice” – a warm, golden neutral. Code wholehearted20 saves you 20%.
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High Tops: A comfortable shoe is a must for venturing outside as it gets warmer – and even better if it comes in pink.
I am so looking forward to wearing these pieces, and for an extra hour of daylight! It has been a long winter here. What are you most looking forward to this spring?
xx
