Capsule Wardrobe Week 3 Recap

January 31, 2021

Well, this post is a little late – it has been a busy couple of weeks, so I wasn’t as inclined to spend my evenings in front of the computer and now I have two weeks to recap this week!

If you’re following along with my capsule wardrobe on Instagram, then you know how this works by now; I’m keeping track of my daily outfits from my capsule, and recapping them here! I also sometimes share my outfits to LIKEtoKNOW.it if they are pieces that are currently available, or if I know of a similar item that’s available through that app.

With that said, let’s get to it!

Monday

This outfit feels so “me”, and I’m sure it’s one I’ll repeat in my capsule! I don’t have any objectives to try to limit outfit repeats with my capsule, since I was to see what items I naturally gravitate toward the most. This turtleneck is from Thom Kelly, a brand I’ve had the pleasure of working with in the past. It’s a blend of Tencel and merino, so soft, and ethically made in NYC. I was thrilled when they got in touch because I wasn’t loving the white long sleeved shirt I had originally selected for my capsule – it never really fit properly, but I didn’t have an item to fill that gap. And now I do!

Capsule items: Thom Kelly Cori Turtleneck in Vanilla; Aritzia Ribbed Slit Skirt (no longer available, similar here)

Accessories: Faire Collection Luna Earrings (code wholehearted15 for 15% off!); Nordgreen watch

Tuesday

This dress from Quince is so beautiful – I normally find sweater dresses to be too warm, but this one is the perfect weight. This also wasn’t originally part of my capsule; it was honestly kind of a I’m-sad-and-need-a-pick-me-up purchase. So, it’s in the capsule now! I try not to beat myself up over occasional retail therapy…it’s a weird time.

Capsule items: Quince Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater Dress in Oatmeal

Accessories: Mejuri Charlotte Bold Hoops; VRAI Diamond Solitaire Necklace; Ankle Boots (old); Chelsea King Faux Fur Scrunchie

Wednesday

Bringing out another beautiful piece from Devan Gregori (this one was not gifted). Since this blouse makes a statement, I kept it simple with some denim. If you missed my whole denim saga over on Instagram, I added another pair of skinny jeans to my capsule since my other pair are ripping, and capsule wardrobing can put a lot of wear on your clothes. I want to preserve the other pair as long as possible (I love them!) so you’ll see these used interchangeably. If you’d like to shop with Devan Gregori, code KELLIE15 for 15% off.

Capsule items: Devan Gregori Octavia Blouse in Oyster; AYR Denim

Accessories:  VRAI Diamond Solitaire Necklace; Mejuri Bangle; Faire Collection Tai Bracelet

Thursday

Simple, but it’s one of my longtime favorite outfits.

Capsule items: Madewell Ex-Boyfriend Shirt in White (old, similar here); Madewell 10-Inch High Rise Button Fly Denim (old, similar here)

Accessories:  Aureum Collective Thea Necklace; Ankle Boots (old)

Friday

This is more utilitarian than I usually go, but it’s been so cold here (below zero with the wind chill!) and on Friday I just wanted to be comfortable. I am loving that chunky boots are in right now since they’re so practical for where I live, and now I can act like it is a fashion choice rather than just a practical one.

Capsule items: Jenni Kayne Cashmere Tee in Black; Jenni Kayne Waffle Hooded Sweater Coat in Oatmeal; Madewell 10-Inch High Rise Button Fly Denim (old, similar here)

Accessories:  Jenni Kayne Canyon Boot in Stone

As always, I love to hear your capsule journey or which outfits are your favorite! Feel free to get in touch – @kelliehayden.

xx
